COVERING THE RACE THAT STOPS THE NATION: Eric O’Keefe is the author of a recently published book called The Cup that tells the story of the 2002 Melbourne Cup and how winning jockey Damien Oliver dealt with a family tragedy just days before the race.

Eric was in Australia last week to cover this year’s race and then he swung through Los Angeles on his way home to report on the Breeders’ Cup. Read his recent column on HuffingtonPost.com about the state of American racing, and you can also follow him at www.TheCup.com, on Facebook, and on Twitter. Eric’s book is being turned into a major motion picture to be released next year. Team Villageous is working with Eric to spread the word about the book and movie, so expect to hear more about this exciting project in the coming months.
